European Ancestral Reconnection for Collective Liberation

Classes will soon be offered about reconnecting with European ancestries so as to revive lifeways that nurture relationships with human communities, more-than-human communities, and the living Earth. A central part of this journey will involve working with stinging nettle—as food, medicine, and fiber—to embody these relationships. Nettle will serve as both a bridge between ecosystems in the lower Columbia region and Europe as well as an example of place-based relationships. Central to this work will be unsettling ways of being based in systems of domination and supremacy tied to race and colonization, while fostering practices rooted in justice, solidarity, and liberation.
